Here we go again - leaving for Japan tomorrow

Mark & Sylvia, David Wyatt, Mike Harvey
Tomorrow afternoon, our team be getting on a plane at SeaTac and flying to Japan again for another relief and recovery outreach.

This trip features a lot of variation.  We have 4 members (see photo), but 3 of us leave tomorrow, David joins us in a week, Mike has to return several days early, and then we remaining 3 come back to Seattle on June 21.  The first week we'll be up in Sapporo and the next week and a half we'll be near Sendai, in Ishinomaki and Onagawa again.  See previous post for more details.

To be candid, I've struggled a lot putting this trip together; it's had more than the usual number of major curve-balls.  But now as the team and Japan-side details have finalized, it looks much more promising, and I'm getting more excited about it all.

I'm looking forward to being back in some of the same disaster areas where I went on the first team, and comparing the changes and developments since then.  And since most of the "relief phase" work is done, I'm eager to do more of the "recovery phase" activities.

Plus the big advantage of this trip is having Sylvia on the team.  Each of us has been to Japan individually multiple times in the last several years, but this is the first time in 8 years we've been on a trip there together.

Stay tuned...  will try to post regular updates.
